Kazoo Studios
Born in the suburbs of New York City, Studios is a free-spirit making music that reminds listeners of Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, and Nina Simone all at once. Her lyrical style combines story telling and truth digging with vocal gymnastics that inspire and impress musicians and audiences alike. Influenced by the musical bards of the past, Studios carries on the tradition of speaking truth to power, with a uniquely inclusive edge. Her songs request the presence of all parties at the table of the future.
Studios began her musical career performing folks songs on skates, writing scores for short films, and generally playing music in a sing-along style as she travelled throughout the USA. She has been involved in many movements for truth and justice, and continues to stand in solidarity with all people in struggle for their full human rights. She is moved by the swell of activism coming form youth, companies, leaders and celebrities to maintain a livable planet. She hopes to live through the global transformation to a sustainable economy, and that her music will help speed the message of change.
When she’s not writing music, Studios runs a small marketing firm. Her business, Kazoo Studios East, began as a collective studio space in 2011, and has grown into a full-service social engagement and outreach firm. They focus on projects that are aimed at lowering emissions, equitable housing solutions, and other social and environmental justice focussed work. With a background in design and sculpture, Studios also spends her free time painting murals and making public art commissions.
